We believe that every human being was intended to have an abundance of spirit, energy, creativity, relationships, love and the capacity and right to meet all their basic needs – good food, decent housing, a good paying job, good health and health care, opportunities for their children and the opportunity to grow old without being hungry or homeless. In our methodology we discuss the world as it is and the world as we would like it to be. In order for us to live in the world that we want - we have to build it!
Our organizing methodology and plan for leaders includes: 1) understanding and acknowledging their own interests, needs and ambitions; 2) creating organizational structures that connect each of them to others and their interests, needs and ambitions; and 3) through training, strategic planning and action, build enough people power to bend the political arc toward justice and equity. The methodology focuses on intense leadership development, collective planning and public action. These steps create confidence, success and relationships that can build the community necessary to engage fully and move from powerlessness to understanding, seeking and exercising power.
A recent attendee said, “Leadership Training is about teaching ordinary citizens to unleash the power within themselves and collectively impact the social, political, environmental, and economic decisions that affect their lives.”
Why Attend this Training?
Justice Overcoming Boundaries seeks to be a powerful county-wide organization that is an environment for learning, nurturing and growth; where relationships are developed through a daily exchange of ideas and experiences. However, in order to create such an environment and clarity, we must equip leaders with the tools and strategies necessary for the difficult task of building community.
We create opportunities for leaders is to reflect on the world, its politics, our lives and then make decisions about our role in that reality. Our first step is to invite you to attend a leadership training event. We offer half-day, full-day, and weekend training events. Our methodology will provide the tools, skills and attitudes necessary for you to change the policies or practices that violate what you most care about. As leaders strengthen their skills and abilities through training and action they are invited to attend a seven (7) day residential training event. This is a deeper engagement of the concepts and tools needed to be an effective leader. It affords a person the opportunity to reflect on his/her present and future potential roles in the public arena. The method is Socratic. The style is agitational. This training is offered four times each year in the United States .
